TOOMSUBA — The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks began draining Lake Tom Bailey on Monday to conduct repairs to the lake’s dam, officials announced.

The 182-acre state fishing lake is located about eight miles east of Meridian along Highway 11 in Lauderdale County.

As the water level drops, the lake’s boat ramp will be closed once it is deemed unsafe for launching. However, bank fishing will remain allowed until the lake is fully closed for repairs.

In the meantime, all size and daily creel limits have been lifted, giving anglers the opportunity to keep any fish they catch. Fishing is limited to rod-and-reel or pole fishing only. All other gear types are prohibited.
