GREENVILLE, Miss. (WLBT) - A police officer in Mississippi has passed away.
According to the Greenville Police Department, one of the officers, Trevonte “Trey” Dominique Leasy Lewis, died on Sunday while he was off-duty.
The police department said Officer Lewis was fishing along a local bank when he suffered a sudden medical emergency.
Despite immediate efforts by first responders and medical personnel, Lewis passed away.
“Officer Lewis was a valued member of the Greenville Police Department and a true public servant,” Greenville Police Chief Marcus Turner said. “His commitment to the community and his fellow officers was unwavering. We ask the community to keep his family and our department in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this devastating loss.”
