DETROIT LAKES — A former Minnesota lawmaker convicted of felony burglary will serve six months in jail, a Becker County judge ordered.
Judge Michael Fritz ordered the sentence for former Minnesota Sen. Nicole Mitchell during a hearing on Monday, Sept. 23. Mitchell was convicted of two felony burglary charges, first-degree burglary and possession of burglary or theft tools by a Becker County jury after a five-day trial in July.
In Minnesota, first-degree burglary convictions carry a mandatory minimum sentence of six months in jail.
