BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (KCTV) - A Blue Springs woman is behind bars after she allegedly set a hotel room on fire and left a dog inside to find its own way out.

Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, Sept. 22, indicate that Roshine R. Nelson, 50, of Blue Springs, has been charged with arson.

A probable cause statement filed by the Blue Springs Police Department revealed that around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, emergency crews were called to the Economy Hotel at 3400 NW Jefferson St. with reports of a fire.

When first responders arrived, they said they found smoke billowing out of one room. Witnesses told investigators that Nelson had been seen leaving the room just before the fire was reported.
