Florida International University has broken into the Top 50 public universities nationwide in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges rankings, placing 46th among public institutions and 97th overall.

FIU maintained its No. 1 spot in the Social Mobility category, which recognizes schools that help economically disadvantaged students achieve academic and post-graduation success.

The Miami-Dade County-based university also ranked second among public universities in international business (and third among all schools), 11th for value, 16th for innovation and 45th for veterans.
