LEXINGTON, N.C. — Don’t be alarmed if you see smoke or fire crews on Old Hargrave Road later this week — it’s all part of a training exercise.
The Lexington Fire Department is using a donated home at 1238 Old Hargrave Road to practice live fire scenarios. Training will take place Friday, Sept. 27, Saturday, Sept. 28, and Monday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Firefighters say this type of training is especially valuable because it gives crews the chance to work inside a real residential structure, something that can’t be replicated with standard props.
Neighbors may notice traffic reduced to one lane near the training site, since hydrants on Old Hargrave Road will be in use. You might also see some temporary water discoloration in the area.
