MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - A horse was shot at some point toward the end of last week in the West End of Montrose County, according to the Montrose County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred sometime between Thursday at noon and Friday at 4:30 p.m., when the suspect shot one of the grazing horses, which was injured, the sheriff's office stated. The horse was pastured on leased land from the National Forest Service near Hanks Valley Road.

The injured horse was taken to a veterinarian and continues to get care, according to the sheriff's office.
