STATESBORO, Ga. - A Georgia man has been sentenced to 80 years in federal prison for creating and mailing destructive devices while incarcerated in Georgia state prison.

According to the United States Department of Justice, evidence found during the investigation revealed that 57-year-old David Dwayne Cassady built and mailed two bombs to the United States Courthouse in Anchorage, Alaska, and to the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Neither of the two bombs exploded.

Cassady was imprisoned at Georgia State Prison in Reidsville when he built and sent those bombs. Georgia State Prison closed in 2022.
