This column is going to be a little different from most of those that I write. I usually barrage readers with facts that half of you love and the other half hate. But this will be pure opinion (except for documenting a few supporting facts), so there’s no right or wrong; knock yourself out. I care even less than usual if you disagree.

As an Eisenhower Republican, I have a view that my Democrat friends find unsettling; I believe in the death penalty for everything beyond spitting on the sidewalk, and I’m on the fence on that last one. If you want to harm others for your own gratification, all I can offer you is a blindfold.
