TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A new burn ban has been issued for unincorporated parts of Travis County because of dry conditions, officials announced Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The Travis County Commissioners Court approved the ban, which will remain in place through Oct. 21, unless modified or lifted earlier by the county judge or fire marshal.
The order prohibits most outdoor burning. However, it does not apply to prescribed burns conducted under the supervision of a certified burn manager, nor does it impact outdoor welding, cutting or other hot work permitted through the Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Officials urge caution when outdoor grilling and recommend having water nearby in case of a fire. Anyone who sees a fire getting out of control is urged to call 911 immediately.
