"Catfish: The TV Show," the first-of-its-kind investigative series that tackled the realities of dating in the digital age, has been canceled after nine seasons at MTV.
Nev Schulman , the show's host, and Max Joseph, a former cohost, announced the news in a lengthy video posted to social media on Sept. 22.
"Catfish, as we've known it, is over, which is sad, but at the same time, what an incredible journey it's been," Schulman said, as the pair quipped about their years of reverse image searches, economy flights and many phone calls.
MTV is allowing producers to shop the series elsewhere while it still airs reruns of the show, a source close to production confirmed to USA TODAY.
The series, which premiered in 2012, followed Schulman and his cohosts — Joseph until 2018 and Kamie C
