MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show” has been canceled after nine seasons.

Host Nev Schulman and former co-host Max Joseph announced the upsetting news that the popular reality series was donezo in a video on Instagram on Monday, Sept. 15.

“Hey guys. That’s a wrap on ‘Catfish,’” Joseph began.

“So yeah, after 12 years, almost 300 episodes, and just a lot of traveling around this incredible country, a lot of phone calls. A lot of phone calls, a lot of reverse image searches, a lot of Hilton Garden Inns, ‘Catfish’ has officially been canceled,” Schulman followed.

It appears the show’s cancellation was not a mutual decision. Joseph, who hosted the show with Schulman for seven seasons before being replaced by Kamie Crawford, suggested “maybe [the show] is just on pause.” Schulman clarified, “Thi
