An immigration judge in Chelmsford on Tuesday postponed an individual hearing for a mother of three who was arrested by federal immigration agents in Worcester in May.

Immigration Judge Yul-Mi Cho postponed the hearing for Rosane Ferreira-De Oliveira of Brazil due to a previous hearing taking longer than expected, according to Ferreira-De Oliveira’s lawyer, Paul Toland.

An individual hearing is when a person and their lawyer present a case for them to stay in the United States.

It is not uncommon for individual hearings to be postponed due to time constraints, Toland told MassLive.

“Unfortunately, delays do happen in court,” he said. “Today, it was due to an overflow from a prior hearing that flowed into our time slot. It happens.”

The judge did not offer a new hearing date on Tuesday
