IRVING, Tx -- Despite the late night show's return to ABC following the hosts' indefinite suspension, Nexstar Broadcasting has made the decision to continue to preempt the show.

On Monday, ABC announced it will reinstate Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show. He was suspended in the wake of criticism over his comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Sinclair said Monday that it would not air Kimmel’s show Tuesday when it returns and would broadcast news programming instead.

Tuesday morning, Sep. 23, Nexstar Broadcasting announced it too would be preempting the show, standing by its decision to pull the show last week from its ABC affiliates. The company released the following statement on the decision:
