DUEL COUNTY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission is holding a public hearing on Wednesday, September 23, on a proposed new power plant just north of Toronto in Deuel County.
According to reporting from Mike Tanner with Watertown Radio, the 145-megawatt power plant will produce electricity using natural gas, with fuel oil serving as a backup.
Missouri River Energy Services CEO Matt Schull states that this project is completely separate from any plans to build a data center in Deuel County.
“We are not building this plant to serve any specific data center or anything that would be considered in the future. So, this power plant is being built to serve the 61 members of the Missouri River, and also support the regional transmission grid as well from a liabi
