Alex O’Keefe, a 31-year-old former writer for the hit TV show “The Bear,” was handcuffed and removed from a New York City Metro-North train on Thursday after a passenger complained about the way he was sitting, PEOPLE reports.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 on a train traveling from Grand Central Terminal to New Haven, Connecticut. According to a statement from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority obtained by PEOPLE, O’Keefe was breaking transit rules by having “both of his legs stretched across an adjacent seat,” which was captured by on-board security cameras.
O’Keefe, who is Black, recorded the confrontation as MTA police officers handcuffed him.
