CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — When Amy Thomas' son was two years old, he was in the hospital for two months. The care he received from the nurse inspired her to go back to school so that she could help others in the way they helped her. Thomas, who is now a licensed nurse practitioner at Life Care of Crossville, was chosen as 6 News's September Nurse of the Month.

"It feels good to be appreciated for all the hard work that we put out as nurses," said Thomas. "My patients show me that the most, because it's nice to come into work in the morning and you see them and they're excited that you're the one that's going to be taking care of them for the day."
