MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - A two-year investigation into a fentanyl trafficking network has led to 33 indictments in Middle Tennessee.

The case began in 2023 after a Murfreesboro man died from an overdose. Since then, Murfreesboro police (MPD), Metro Nashville police (MNPD), and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) say they uncovered a large-scale operation involving fentanyl, other drugs, and firearms.

They seized 15 pounds of fentanyl, which they say is enough to kill 3 million people. They also confiscated two pounds of cocaine, 2.1 pounds of heroin, 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 61 firearms, and $175,000 in illicit U.S currency.

The charges for those indicted range from second-degree homicide to fentanyl distribution.
