SHREVEPORT, La. -- The last and only remaining taxi cab operator in Shreveport says outdated city ordinances are piling unfair costs on drivers and leaving taxi's at a disadvantage against Uber and Lyft.
Cab owner and operator Kenny Crawford says failure to adjust the ordinance could push his business out of Shreveport as well.
"The ordinance just needs some polishing. You know, we're the only people vehicle-for-hire folks that they still do the background checks on. Uber and Lyft, they do their own company background checks. It ends up costing us money that's unnecessary," Crawford told the Shreveport City Council Monday.
