LYNN, Mass. —

A new park in Lynn is giving residents 30 acres of waterfront views.

Lynn Harbor Park is a project that's been decades in the making.

"You had an uncapped, unresolved landfill liability here and significant coastal erosion underway," said Bob Delhome, the founder and CEO of Charter.

Delhome and his company took on this project to bring the vision to life.

"For too long, this city was entirely cut off from our waterfront," said Lynn Mayor Jared Nicholson. "This park is providing dedicated open space and public access to the water."

The public-private funded transformation project brings the shoreline to the community for the first time in generations.

This land was once the home of a landfill and a manufactured gas plant.
