HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas — Hopkins County Sheriff's Office said crews successfully made safe a live ordinance at an East Texas business.

Sheriff Lewis Tatum issued a statement saying police and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) are responded to Reeds Scrap Metals on FM 1870. Deputies and investigators secured the area, including the roadway and adjacent homes.

As of 4:36 p.m., the device has been made safe and crews have cleared the scene.
