MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — Two swift water rescue boat teams from Texas Task Force One are staged in Mount Pleasant as emergency officials prepare for the possibility of flooding in East Texas.
Mount Pleasant Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator Larry McRee said the teams are trained for exactly this kind of situation. He urged residents in flood-prone areas to stay alert and not take chances.
“There’s always the potential if you live in a low area of flooding, and if we hit a whole lot of rain, that just increases the chances,” McRee said. “We can send out the information, but it’s up to the people to take action on it and pay attention.”
