TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) — After a decade of hosting artists on the prairie, the Tallgrass Artist Residency is marking its 10th anniversary with a community celebration Oct. 4 in Matfield Green.
The residency, supported by the Kansas Arts Commission, brings artists from across the country to immerse themselves in the tallgrass prairie and rural Kansas communities. Since launching in 2015, it has hosted 91 artists from 20 states.
“Arts are more than creating a beautiful painting or producing a song that groups enjoy — they’re a key component to a prosperous community and strong local economy,” Lt. Gov. and Commerce Secretary David Toland said in a statement.
