Smucker to help food bank spread its support to Wayne County residents

The Orrville, Ohio-based J.M. Smucker Company announced plans to provide material and financial support to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Smucker is donating its retail store to the food bank to take over.

It's also donating $1 million over five years to support the food bank's expanded operations in Wayne County.

While the federal and Ohio state governments cut back on assistance to food banks , Orrville-based J.M. Smucker Company is picking up the slack.

Smucker announced it is donating its 19,000-square-foot retail store , along with 30 acres of land, to Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
