A pedestrian was hit by a car travelling on the Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge on Monday evening, Sept. 22.
Emergency responders were called to the 21600 block of Lougheed at 9:50 p.m., responding to a collision in the eastbound lanes, and found a man who had been hit by a car.
Paramedics from BC Emergency Health Services treated the male victim, and took him to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, with injuries that were described as serious, but not life threatening.
The driver told The News that the car in front of him braked aggressively and suddenly, apparently to avoid the man who was on the highway. He braked, and then moved into the left lane to avoid a collision, but found the pedestrian suddenly was in the lane in front of him. The m
