ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — News 8 is learning more about the cross-state effort that helped bring a missing 13-year-old girl from Rochester home safely.
Rochester Police say the teen was reported missing by her family on September 11. Within days, investigators reached out to the U.S. Marshals Service for help. That call connected them with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who worked to trace the girl’s whereabouts.
It was that collaboration, officials say, that led to the discovery she was in the Chicago area. Marshals in Illinois moved in over the weekend, finding the girl unharmed at an apartment complex in Blue Island.
