YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Lawyers for a group of former Ursuline High football players said they will appeal a decision by a Mahoning County Magistrate denying them a temporary restraining order against the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).
A hearing was held by phone Tuesday morning between lawyers for half a dozen players and their families and the OHSAA.
Ursuline had canceled its season after playing just one game in the wake of a pair of lawsuits filed this month claiming students had been hazed and harassed by members of the team.
Lawyers for the players had requested a court order to allow the players to transfer to other schools, but the magistrate ruled this afternoon that the players can still formally request an exemption from OHSAA to be eligible to go somewhere
