(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol will be conducting a Pedestrian Safety Operation in the Modesto area as September marks Pedestrian Safety Month.

The operation is scheduled for Sept. 25 in the Salida area.

CHP said that officers will be focusing on drivers who do not yield the right of way to pedestrians or commit unsafe, illegal actions.

The operation will consist of officers in plain clothes crossing streets, as uniformed officers monitor drivers who will then be stopped and cited if a violation is committed, according to CHP.

Officers aim to educate and encourage the community to be safe when driving, walking and bicycling throughout Stanislaus County.
