PONCHATOULA, La. (WVUE) - An accused hit-and-run driver has been arrested after a three-vehicle crash in Ponchatoula left eight people injured, including three children, police said.

Anthony P. Conley, 68, was booked Tuesday (Sept. 23) with felony hit-and-run, obstruction of justice, eight counts of misdemeanor negligent injuring and one count of driving with a suspended license, Ponchatoula Police said.

Chief Bry Layrisson said the collision occurred Monday around 6:27 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 51 and St. Patrick’s Boulevard.

Three of the people injured were children aged 2, 5 and 7. They were airlifted to area hospitals for emergency treatment.

‘Blood kits were taken from two of the drivers, and the crash is still under investigation," Layrisson said Tuesday morning.
