A Blue Springs, Missouri, woman has been charged with arson after allegedly setting a fire inside a hotel room.

Officers with the Blue Springs Police Department were called to the hotel to assist with a fire incident.
The Central Jackson County Fire Department reported that the fire, which appeared suspicious, appeared to have started on a shelf on a wall. According to court documents, a towel with visible burn marks was found, as well as the presence of an accelerant, firefighters said. An arson investigator said the evidence of an accelerant was a liquid with a strong chemical odor.
