INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - The man believed to be behind a fatal weekend stabbing in Independence has been taken into custody.

The Independence, Missouri, Police Department says that around 8:05 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, emergency crews were called to the area of S. Logan and E. 23rd St. with reports of a stabbing.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a man identified as 45-year-old Anthony S. Myers with an apparent stab wound.

Investigators indicated that Myers was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect was quickly identified as Trey C. Parker.

On Monday, Independence Police said Parker was taken into custody on charges of murder in the second degree
