Pryor Middle School evacuated after odor from construction, no gas leak found

Students and staff at Pryor Middle School were evacuated Tuesday morning after a suspected gas leak was reported.

Officials confirmed the source of the smell has been identified as construction crews cutting pipe during the library remodel. They say the odor spread through the ventilation system, but there was no gas leak.

The Pryor Fire Department and Municipal Utilities Board tested the building before giving the all-clear.

All students and staff were relocated to the First Baptist Church, but will return once it has fully dissipated.
