FLINT, MI -- Flint city Councilman Leon El-Alamin dragged his on-again, off-again girlfriend by her hair, punched her in the head, and choked her with his forearm inside the home they shared in Mt. Morris Township, his alleged victim has testified.

Following testimony during a preliminary examination on Tuesday, Sept. 23, El-Alamin was bound over to Genesee Circuit Court on felony assault and domestic violence charges by District Court Judge Vikki Bayeh Haley.

The 1st Ward councilman sat quietly near his attorney during the hearing, which lasted less than an hour and featured limited testimony from his alleged victim and a police officer who responded to her 911 call on July 10.
