GRAND JUNCTION Colo. (KREX)- For 76 years, the Grand Junction Lions Club has recognized one of its own with the “Lion of the Year” award. This year, the club honored a member whose decades of service and dedication to the community has left a lasting impact.

Club members gathered at Bookcliff Country Club to celebrate the surprise announcement of this year’s honoree, Denny Granum. The award is kept secret until it’s announced, and Granum said he had no idea his name would be called.

“I had no clue. I had no clue whatsoever,” Granum said after receiving the award.

Brad McCloud, president of the Grand Junction Lions Club, said the award goes beyond a simple title.
