Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents entered an Alameda County courthouse earlier this month and arrested a man who was leaving a court hearing, according to Alameda County Public Defender Brendon Woods. The man was taken out of the courthouse by the plainclothes agents and whisked away in an unmarked vehicle. He is currently being held in an ICE detention facility, the public defender said in a press release.
Woods forcefully condemned the arrest and called on other county and state leaders to take steps to protect people attending court hearings.
