HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Showers with episodes of heavy downpours seem to be the daily standard lately.

Tropical moisture continues to flood in this direction only to be fired off as rain by an east breeze or offshore trough of low pressure.

The problem is the amount of rain; it just isn't enough in terms of coverage.

Now, a new twist is emerging in the forecast to increase the risk of rain across the Rio Grande Valley on Thursday.

The tail end of a cold front will be sliding across South Texas.

As the cold front travels towards the Valley, it will increase the chance for rain and possibly a few thunderstorms on Wednesday night through Thursday.

This event also promises to increase the overall coverage area of rain.
