CLEVELAND — A Cleveland City Councilman is calling for action after a string of homicides over the weekend, including the killing of a 17-year-old boy.
The violence started on Friday night when 17-year-old Jahari Stegall was shot and killed outside the Quix Food Store in the North Collinwood neighborhood.
Christie Lucco, a close friend and coworker of Stegall’s mother, described the devastation.
“I don't know how we stop the gun violence in Cleveland,” Lucco said. “I mean, is there any end to this? Everybody's devastated, and obviously can't even imagine what a mother must be going through at this time.”
She said Stegall was a quiet and polite teen who loved animals.
