FORT WORTH, Texas — Cowtown is gearing up for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the global spotlight turning to North Texas next summer.

“This is our opportunity to really work together to put on a world-class event, and I know we're ready for it,” said Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker.

DFW will host more World Cup matches than any other city in the country, including a semifinal inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, which will be transformed into a soccer venue called Dallas Stadium, as part of the hosting agreement. Already, FIFA says more than four million people worldwide have applied for tickets.

Parker hopes as many of those fans as possible make Fort Worth part of their World Cup experience.
