Tempe elected officials and other political figures from across the state joined together on Monday to speak out against extreme heat and rising energy costs.
At an event hosted by the Climate Action Campaign and the Elected Officials to Protect America, several local leaders spoke about solutions to the expected extreme heat that may hit the Valley in the future.
Tempe Mayor Corey Woods and other Arizona politicians spoke against rising energy costs associated with extreme heat and for efficient-energy solutions for the city.
“Efficiency upgrades help keep people safer and more comfortable at home during times of extreme heat,” Woods said in his statement.
Both Arizona Public Service Co. and Salt River Project announced that energy rates would rise in 2026 leading to a severe financia
