WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita City Council reviewed a proposed ordinance on Tuesday concerning hotels and motels in the city. The ordinance is still in its early stages but would require these establishments to obtain a license from the city.
Currently, hotels and motels are regulated by the Kansas Department of Agriculture. If issues arise, such as complaints about bed bugs or violence, the city must rely on the agricultural department to investigate, which can often take time.
If the ordinance is approved, hotels that receive complaints or have visible violations would be subject to inspections. For non-life-threatening violations, the hotel would receive notices for repairs.
