University of Portland is No. 2 in this week’s coaches’ poll for men’s soccer, the Pilots’ highest ranking in 33 years.

The unbeaten Pilots are coming off a 3-2 win against Denver, an NCAA semifinalist a year ago. Portland’s 6-0-1 record is its best through seven games since 1988. The Pilots haven’t been ranked this highly since 1992, when they were No. 1.

North Carolina State (7-0-1) is No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Portland was previously No. 4.

Portland is riding a 17-game unbeaten streak, dating back to last season. The Pilots’ last loss came on Sept. 22, 2024 to Santa Barbara.

Portland opens West Coast Conference play Saturday when the Pilots play host to Gonzaga at Merlo Field at 7 p.m.
