Sacramento Zoological Society pushes for zoo growth to 20 acres

The Sacramento Zoological Society has submitted a proposal to the City of Sacramento to expand the Sacramento Zoo by 4.4 acres, using the former pony ride space that has sat vacant since 2022. If approved, the expansion would bring the zoo’s total size to about 20 acres. Zoo officials say the additional land is needed to provide more space for animals and improve their living conditions.
