Energy advocates and local leaders say a natural gas pipeline that could be coming to New York is not in compliance with state law.

However, a decision made last week by the Public Service Commission — a state agency regulating utilities — accepted the National Grid’s most recent long-term plan, which includes the use of the proposed pipeline.

Proposed three times before, the pipeline would stretch 23 miles from Pennsylvania, under Raritan Bay in New Jersey, and connect off the shore of Queens.

The project still needs an approved water permit before it can move forward, and there are some vocal supporters of the plan.

Carlo Scissura, president and CEO of the New York Building Congress, is one of those supporters. He joined “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss the project.
