MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — The Monongalia County Board of Education hosted its annual legislative meeting Tuesday, welcoming state senators and delegates to discuss education priorities while also moving through a lengthy agenda of county business.

Sen. Michael Oliverio praised progress made through the state’s Third Grade Success Act, which he said is showing encouraging results in Monongalia County schools.

“I was pleased to see the County Board of Education feels that the investment we made in the Third Grade Success Act is working,” Oliverio said. “They’re seeing meaningful progress among our students toward reaching higher levels of reading, and that was really our goal.”
