WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — According to Warrick County Sheriff's Office, a middle school girl was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer while crossing a busy intersection in Newburgh.

Dispatchers confirmed that the 911 call for the crash came in around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

We're told it happened at the intersection of Sharon Road and SR 66, and that the coroner has been called to the scene.

44News spoke to Sheriff Wilder at the scene. He says deputies are working with Indiana State Police to reconstruct the scene and look at surveillance footage from a nearby gas station.

According to Sheriff Wilder, preliminary investigation doesn't show any alcohol or drugs were involved at this time.
