A Southern Highlands man has been sentenced after throwing a package over the fence of Nowra's South Coast Correctional Centre.
Andrew Joseph Spinocchia, 58, of Robertson, appeared before Nowra Local Court on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, pleading guilty to unlawfully bringing 183.89 grams of tobacco into a place of detention on July 1, 2025.
Police documents submitted to the court said corrections officers had been monitoring phone calls and were aware a package might be delivered that day.
Staff observed a small black package thrown from the passenger side window of a dark grey Mazda 3, which was later picked up by an inmate.
The papers said Spinocchia was the passenger of the car at the time, but he denied any involvement when questioned by police.
