WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — At Tuesday night's school board meeting, we learned more about Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools' financial crisis.
A repayment plan for the district's $37 million deficit and changes to dental insurance were among the biggest topics at Tuesday's meeting. Interim Superintendent Catty Moore said funds could come from one-time legislative support, a loan or additional cuts.
"Funds for debt repayment could come from further reductions in staff, local staff or non-personnel expenses, reductions in other local expenses that we have: salary supplements, classified, local longevity, potentially expansion of the furloughs," Moore said.
Moore also said savings from recent job cuts aren't finalized, but she expects to see the results next month.
