TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A student at a Tucson school was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after a gun went off on campus.

The Tucson Police Department confirmed it happened at the Canyon Rose Academy’s East campus, located at 8981 East Tanque Verde, around 4:30 p.m.

The TPD said the gun may have been in the student’s backpack when it went off.

Canyon Rose Academy said it called for a lockdown and contacted law enforcement, who quickly responded.

No one was injured, and the student allegedly ran away after the incident. The TPD said the student, who has not been identified, was found near the school.

Canyon Rose Academy is a public charter school with five campuses in Tucson.

The TPD said the investigation is ongoing.
