BRAINERD — In a back-and-forth battle, Daniel Cerrito Sagastume’s second-half goal proved to be the difference in Willmar’s 3-2 Central Lakes Conference win over the Brainerd Warriors Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Adamson Field.

It was Sagastume’s second goal of the game. He scored the Cardinals' second goal in the first half to give Willmar a 2-1 advantage.

“We showed a lot of grit in this game,” Warriors’ head coach Nick Weeks said. “I’m proud of the effort we showed on senior night.”

Willmar scored the first goal off a corner kick by Isaiah Munoz to put the Cardinals ahead 1-0 at the 22:28 mark of the first half. Less than a minute later, Cole Popp found Preston Bernander for the equalizer. Popp’s assist was his first career point.
