STORRS, Conn. — Over at the University of Connecticut, there are new parking boots on campus.
The school rolled them out at its Storrs campus this summer to help solve some of the parking problems that have been going on for years.
The booting system is meant to crack down on illegal parking without a university permit in lots and garages.
Associate Director of Logistics Andy Kelly said other methods were tried in the past, like towing, but the problem hasn't gone away.
"Folks could accrue a lot of tickets and basically just continue to accrue those, and there wasn't a stop mechanism," Kelly said.
Now, Kelly says the boots will work as that stop mechanism that the campus didn't have previously.
